SUMMER CAMPS ABROAD

summerabroad2When: Three weeks in the month of July. Ecole Jean-Jacques Rousseau students are offered the option to travel with our staff members to join a French Summer Camps in a beautiful center located in the region of Cevennes in Southern France, and that during the month of July.

Who: Eligible students for summer camp abroad must be at least 8 years old and part of the school comminuty: JJR full-time students, students of our Saturday workshops, or the academic after school classes/program, JJR alumni or current JJR student’s siblings.

Where: A very exciting trip of three-week stay in southern France with the amazing opportunity to complete a full French immersion of summer camp, in the mountainous area of Southern France, les Cevennes. The beautiful center, welcoming up to 120 students, is located in the mountains, few miles from Anduze, and at about 1640 feet, in a property of 67 acres of orchards, chestnut forests and rivers. The center has multiple showers and bathrooms, bedrooms of 2 to 6 beds, a swimming pool of over 1,000 square feet, a game room with 100 ping-pong and baby-foot tables, volley-ball and soccer courts, a bivouac shelter, a food court seating 120 people, and a complete high-tech projection room.

What: In addition to only French being spoken at camp with native French speakers, this summer camp offers a wide range of activities from speleology to nature trail walking, camping, horse riding, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, including center-based sportive activities.

Cost: $2500- $3500. All fees and documents must be submitted by the first Monday of April.

Itinerary (subject to change): The camp is located at 4-6 hours ride from Paris.

Ride : Paris Charles de Gaulle – Paris 12e (one night stay in Paris)

Train : Paris/Gare de Lyon – Nîmes via TGV (train)

Bus : Nîmes – Camp (few miles from Anduze) via bus

From Camp to Austin:

Bus: Camp – Nîmes via bus

Train: Nîmes – Paris Gare de Lyon (one night stay in Paris)

Ride to the Charles De Gaulle Airport

Flight: Paris Charles de Gaulle to Austin Bergström Airport.

More about summer camps in France: Summer camps in France are certified camps by the French Ministry of Youth and Sports. All safety conditions are met, as per the regulations of the French Ministry of Youth and Sports. The camps are led by certified specialists and directors.

More about this trip abroad: Ecole Jean-Jacques Rousseau works in partnership with the camp in France. An EJJR staff member travels with the group of students from Austin to Paris. All students traveling to camp via Paris meet at the Train Station, Gare de Lyon. All campers are then taken in charge by the camp staff member to travel from Paris to Nîmes, then from Nîmes to Camp. EJJR staff member will meet again with all the students at the Gare of Lyon in Paris for the trip back to Austin.
