French School of Austin — École Jean-Jacques Rousseau — is a private, independent bilingual school serving students from preschool through Grade 8.
Located in North Austin, the school has provided a strong bilingual, college-preparatory education since 2005. Students learn in a multicultural, multilingual environment where instruction is delivered in both French and English, with English development integrated throughout the program. An optional third-language track, including Spanish, Arabic, or Mandarin, further enriches students’ global perspective.
The academic program is based on the French Ministry of Education curriculum and incorporates elements of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), particularly in English Language Arts. This dual approach ensures that students develop strong literacy skills in both French and English while maintaining academic rigor and alignment with U.S. expectations.
By the end of middle school, students are academically prepared, bilingual, and proficient in both French and English, with exposure to a third language. They are equipped with critical thinking, reasoning, and communication skills necessary for success in both international and American academic environments.
