In addition to a mandatory violin program, Ecole Jean-Jacques Rousseau offers optional guitar and piano lessons. Lessons are taught privately during school hours or after school by outside instructors. Depending on the level of the child, the recommended lesson length is 30 to 45 minutes.

Playing guitar helps enhancing the student’s brain to function via initiating signals that subconsciously commands the hands to memorize where to place the finger on a certain fret be it left or right chord. All of this, while engaging in the appropriate manner of strumming.

The guitar lessons at EJJR focus on student-by-student considerations; rhythm or lead guitar, beginner or prior knowledge, and musical interests.

Each guitar lesson includes elements of topics (concepts and ideas) and applications (the use of topics to create something musical).
